Day One - Starting Simple

Today I started my 365 days of photography challenge.  My goal is to take at least one photo (preferably a 'package') every day for an entire year.  Like a writer attempts a daily free-thought journal, my goal is to get to a point where the basics of photography (vision, formatting, settings, etc.) become natural and second nature.

Eventually, I plan to work on certain photography and post-production skills and am always up for a challenge, but for today, I stayed simple with a quick shoot from my brother-in-law's birthday party at the bowling alley.  We ended the evening at Panera for a quick bite to eat and a lovely group shot.

Introduction

Welcome to Photography by Alicia V!

Recently, my wonderful husband declared that I am a photo hoarder.  I love taking pictures - nature, events, babies, etc., and do so on a nearly daily basis.  I am, unfortunately, terrible at posting them for friends and family to see.  Matt hasn't even seen most of my photography and he has politely requested that I work on sharing my photographic perspective more often.

I could always upload all of my photos to Facebook, or my blog, but anyone that knows me at all knows that I constantly have my camera with me and have amassed tens of thousands of pictures over the years.

I don't want to bog down Facebook (or my regular blog) with the expanded portfolios from events, so I decided to create this blog to share the pictures with everyone.  I'll still try to upload small folders to Facebook, but I will redirect most of them to this blog, so that I do not single-handedly crash the site with excessive gigabytes of memory.  :-P

I have opened the comment sections to anonymous comments, so that non-blogger family members can comment, but please sign at least your first name, so that I know who is commenting on my albums.  Thank you!

P.S.  Please bare with me for awhile - I have a few years of events to upload (over time), but I will try to give current events priority.  I will do my best to point out photos that are not current and organize them in functional order, but I apologize if it seems screwy sometimes.

I also apologize about the quality of older photos - I've upgraded through many different digital cameras throughout the years and the difference in quality can be pretty extreme.  I hope you enjoy my photography blog and I thank you for stopping by.
